Father Augustin Crampon (1826-1894) was canon of Amiens Cathedral, versed in biblical and modern languages. For some time he had been engaged in the translation of all the books of the Canon, and he also made a large collection of exegetical and critical notes intended to form part of the biblical commentaries.
