Bridge is a trick-taking card game that is played by 4 players in 2 competing partnerships. Partners are positioned opposite of each other around a card playing table. The full deck of cards, 52 cards in total, is distributed to 4 players, 13 cards to each player. During the game of Bridge, players are recognized by their location at the table; North, South, East, and West.
Note: Before you bid on cards, you can only see your hand of cards. Your partner is the player whose hand of cards becomes visible to you after bidding. You should have a game strategy in mind while playing Arkadium Bridge; it is up to you whether you want to bet high or bet low.
The goal of Arkadium Bridge is to be the team at the end with the highest score. The word used for “match” in Bridge is “rubber.” A rubber ends when a team wins two games. After a round is over, a scorecard is shown, called a “contract,” with different bonus points. A game can be won by getting a score of 100 points or more over several deals.
HOW CONTRACT SCORING WORKS:
♣ Rubber Bonus: By winning two games, a team earns a rubber bonus
♣ Slam Bonus: Win 12 or 13 tricks for a small or grand slam
♣ Double Bonus: When a bid is doubled or redoubled, game score is increased
♣ Honors: Starting with the top 4 or 5 trumps gives extra points
♣ Overtricks: When a team takes more tricks than they bid, they get bonus points for each
♣ Undertricks: When a team prevents the opponent from taking enough tricks, they get points for each
♣ A team must make at least 100 contract points (for bidding) to win the game
♣ All points are added to create the total team score
