Let's grab some curling hairstyle tutorials here!
I’m so excited to share my updated hair tutorial on how I curl my hair! I did a step-by-step photo tutorial a few years ago (shown below), but now I have a video you can watch over and over to get loose curls just like mine. I’ve tried my absolute best to show you the step-by-step process along with my favorite hair products. I use a regular curling iron instead of a wand (I’m not that talented haha), and the best one I’ve found is the T3 Twirl Convertible Curling Iron 1.25 inches. The other product I’m obsessed with is the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray. This stuff gives my hair some texture because my hair is super fine and silky so it needs something to keep the curls in tact.
Don’t get discouraged if your curls don’t turn out exactly like my loose curls the first time. I’ve taught several of my friends the hair curling technique, and it took them a few times to get the hang of it. It seems simple, but it’s going to take a little practice.
(Step 1)
First, once hair is dry section the top half and secure with a clip or hair tie. Then separate the rest of your hair down the middle in the back. Then start on one side separating by sections from bottom to top.
(Step 2)
Starting from the back of your head section hair into a small piece to curl. IMPORTANT The clamp on the curling iron needs to be facing the mirror so your curls go back away from your face not forwards.
(Step 3)
Insert the curling hairstyle tutorials iron half way from the top of your head. Let go of clamp. Gently pull hair your hair through the curling iron about 1/4 of an inch, and then turn the curling iron back up towards the top of your head. Continue this until you get almost to the end of the strand of hair. **You may need to keep your thumb on the clamp so it is lightly open if you curling iron doesn’t pull through your hair smoothly. Be sure to leave about a 1/4 inch of hair out at the end.
(Step 4)
Once your hair is completely pulled through the curling hairstyle tutorials iron leave it in for a few seconds (don’t burn your hair please), and then pull the curling iron straight down, vertically. Make sure the curling iron is parallel to your head. This is what makes the ends look good. DON’T release the clamp just slide the curling iron out of your hair.
(Step 5)
Almost done!! Once all sections of hair are curled use your fingers to gently separate the curls.
(Step 6)
VOLUME, VOLUME, VOLUME. Mainly because I don’t have any volume, so if you do you are a lucky duck. I take a few sections of hair around the crown of my head, and tease them with the Tangle Teezer. Forget a regular brush because this thing is your new best friend. Hence the name. Then I spray the Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray again throughout my hair. This stuff gives my hair a little grit so the curling hairstyle tutorials and volume don’t fall quickly.
(Step 7)
Finish with some hairspray and you’re done!
Ta-da!! I really hope this was helpful to all of you! Like I said earlier, please don’t get frustrated. There is no perfect way to do this, and it took me a little while to figure it out. Now that I have the hang of it I can do it in about 5 min! Thank you all so much for your support!
