Dan Duckling Kids Read & Tap is an interactive story book for helping kids learn how to read. It is appropriate for preschool students, Kindergarten students, grade 1 and 2 students, and even ESL (English as a Second Language) and ELL (English Language Learner) students.

Becoming a good reader takes practice and guidance. This story equips emerging readers with the tools necessary to grow as a reader and to have fun while doing so. The story contains a large number of sight words and other common words. Each line can be read aloud by tapping. Every 2 lines rhyme to help learn rhyming words and to increase the ability for readers to remember the lines and read along. Each page contains an interactive element where readers can demonstrate that they understand what is being read by performing the specified action.

In many ways, this Read & Tap story is the digital equivalent of a traditional pop-up book. Instead of pictures popping up off the page, readers will see animations and hear sounds on each page. The goal here is to engage readers and increase their interest in reading.

This app aligns to the following Common Core State Standards:
- CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.K.1.A Follow words from left to right, top to bottom, and page by page.
- CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RF.K.4 Read emergent-reader texts with purpose and understanding.
- CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.1.10 With prompting and support, read prose and poetry of appropriate complexity for grade 1.
