I'm sorry, but there's no denying it: doll makeup are freaking terrifying. In movies and during Halloween, dolls scare me most. For some people, it's zombies with rotting flesh, or dark, ambiguous creatures lingering in the corner. But for me, it's dolls. Now I love me some scary movies, and can even watch most by myself, but it is not one of those movies. Creepy AF ventriloquist puppets who go on a murderous rampage? No, thank you. But I somehow got convinced that, hey, I should totally just make myself look like the thing that scares me most; sinister doll makeup is a great idea. I guess that's what Halloween is all about, right? Scaring yourself? No, no, we've been over this already. It's about the candy.
Anyway, if you're someone who wants to get doll makeup up (heh heh) for Halloween, but you don't want to purchase any new products, this look is something you can achieve with makeup you probably already own. Bonus: If you don't want to look quite so creepy, or if you're strapped for time, you can skip the cracks and be a cute doll instead. The most important part of this look is the big eyes, so if you've got that, you're good to go.
Here's what you'll need to play a puppet:
*Full-coverage foundation
*Concealer
*Light-pink blush
*Grey and/or black eyeshadow
*Purple eyeshadow
*White eyeliner
*Black liquid eyeliner
*Red lipstick
*Two pairs of false eyelashes
The Base
Apply a full-coverage foundation and concealer as needed to get an even canvas. Then pack on a light-pink blush directly on the apples of the cheeks. Don't worry about blending this out or sweeping it back; you want the color to be concentrated.
The Color
Fill in your eyebrows using grey and black eyeshadows to get doll makeup brows. Use a light purple shadow as a wash of color on your lids. Apply a white eyeliner to your water line, and drag it below as well. This will help create the illusion of wider eyes. Finish by applying a red lipstick, overdrawing the corners for a sinister smile.
The Details
Using your black eyeliner, draw random shapes and cracks on your face; also draw the lines where your puppet's mouth should move. Using the white eyeliner, highlight the edges of the cracks. Apply falsies to your upper lash-line. Either apply bottom-lash false lashes or regular false-lashes flipped upside down to the new, lower lash-line you created with the white eyeliner. Add two high ponytails and a distressed, Peter Pan collar dress for extra innocent creepiness.
Ventriloquist not included.
