LITE is a research study app designed to help engage and retain participants within the LITE HIV prevention study. It will support the overall study’s goal of supporting participants’ PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) adherence over time through sustained platform engagement, weekly messages highlighting key app features, a game-based economy that awards badges for activities and milestones within the app, and continued development of content and activities to ensure the platform remains dynamic and fresh. LITE is an adaptation of the app, HMP, which covers a range of health and lifestyle topics to support users’ diverse backgrounds and varying needs over time.
HMP was created by Lisa Hightow-Weidman, MD, MPH, a public health scientist. The principal investigators for this study are Dr. Sybil Hosek at Cook County Health, Dr. Audrey French at Cook County Health and Dr. Lisa Hightow-Weidman at the Institute on Digital Health and Innovation at Florida State University’s College of Nursing.
