It Can Wait VR is a unique experience that places the viewer at the center of a dramatic theatrical production about the causes, effects, and victims of distracted driving. Though it begins with the straightforward, powerful vernacular of black box theater, the virtual stage evolves into an otherworldly space in which time is stretched, gravity is suspended, and objects vanish and reappear at will. These powerful visuals, informed by staggering statistics about the cost of distracted driving, give viewers a fresh and compelling perspective on the subject.
The experience unfolds as a series of three vignettes, each within a restrained, stage-like set. The first act highlights the dangers of distracted driving, and shows how the world looks through the eyes of a distracted driver – a spatial, photo-real infographic. The second shows the sudden and devastating consequences of distracted driving, through photo-real CG collisions that appear in uncomfortable proximity to the viewer. Finally, the story concludes with the testimonies of real-life people on all sides of the issue, to reinforce the reality that distracted driving is an epidemic that affects us all, whether we know it or not.
