REGICOR CARDIOVASCULAR RISK CALCULATOR
These tables have been adapted to the characteristics of the Spanish population [5-6] through a well contrasted calibration process [1-4]. They allow the estimation of coronary events (angina, heart attack with or without symptoms, deadly or not) in 10 years.
They have been adapted through a well-proven calibration process and an HTML application has been programmed to allow the estimation of coronary events in 10 years. It is also possible to print the results with some heart-healthy tips.
You may know what is the likelihood of suffering a heart attack or angina in the next 10 years. Since atherosclerosis can affect all the arteries of the human body, this estimate can be made available to other events such as stroke, although the precision of the result is lower.
If you're between 35 and 74 years and want to calculate their risk, a simple program will seek the necessary information. The risk calculator requires 8 data to give a result. Firstly, sex, age, smoker or not and if you are diabetic or not. Second, data on levels of systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Finally, the values of total cholesterol and HDL cholesterol from your blood test comes later.
You can also add if you have been diagnosed of Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), or if you suffer from a Myeloproliferative Neoplasm such as Polycythemia Vera or Essential Thrombocythemia.
