St. Jude Thaddeus was, according to various New Testament texts (Gospels, Acts of the Apostles), one of the disciples of Jesus of Nazareth, who was part of the group of "the twelve" apostles. According to the Gospel of John, he was a privileged witness of the Last Supper, during which he had an explicit active participation. The ecclesiastical tradition attributes to him the authorship of the epistle of Judas, point also debated by the biblistas.
Today, the Catholic tradition venerates him as the saint of difficult and desperate causes. Its festivity is celebrated in the Catholic liturgy on October 28, although it is popularly remembered on the 28th of each month.
