How to play
- Classic spades is a 4 player card game where every player bids on a number of card tricks.
- After the cards are dealt, bid on how many tricks you think you can win.
- Each player is required to play a card in the same suit as the lead (first played) card whenever possible. The winner of a trick is the player with the highest ranking card in the lead suit.
- Don't forget that a trump is always the spades plus the ace of spades is the strongest card.
- A trick can’t be led with a spade card unless a player has only spade cards left, or spades have been broken. Spades are broken when a spade card is played for the first time as a trump.
- For each extra trick won over a bid, you are awarded one additional point. For example, if a player bids 5 tricks and wins 6 tricks, they’ll get 51 points in total (5x10 + 1 = 51).
- Every additional trick won over a bid is referred to as a sandbag. But be careful, every time you get 10 sandbags during the game, 100 points are taken from your score.
- If you bid nil and take zero tricks, it’s worth 100 points (and 200 points for a blind nil).
- If you bid nil and take one or more tricks, your score is reduced by 100 points (and by 200 points for a blind nil).
- Play a free spades game - bid, pick the best card, score points, and win!
- Practice makes perfect, so gain experience and push for a new personal best with each trick in this cards games.
