The band started in 2002 with Ruki (vocals), Reita (bass) and Uruha (guitar) in Kanagawa Prefecture. After engaging with other bands in the visual scene, the three decided that the Gazette was their last band. [1] They recruited Aoi (guitar) and Yune (drums) from the band that broke Artia visually and officially became the Gazette in January 2002. [1]
Originally signed to Matina, they released their first single, "Wakaremichi", and released their first music video on April 30, 2002. They re-released "Wakaremichi" in June. In September they have released "Kichiku Kyoushi (32sai Dokushin) not Kouza Nousatsu" and their second PV. In October, they played their first solo live On Christmas, a 5-song compilation 'Yougenkyou with the song "Okuribi" was released.
