Mobile app to help blind and visually impaired people identify medication
Indeed, for blind or visually impaired people, several obstacles can arise when taking medication:
The difficulty of identifying a box of medicine;
The inability to check the expiration date of the medicine;
Lack of access to information in the drug package leaflet.
Thanks to Theia®, people with a visual impairment can now scan a medicine box and easily obtain all the information in the leaflet. The following information is displayed on the screen, and will be simultaneously read aloud by voice over:
the name of the medicine;
the dosage ;
expiration date ;
The lot number;
A summary of the patient information sheet
100% accessible to all, the Theia application covers more than 13,000 drugs available on the French market. The information that the application generates comes from Vidal, the reference information base on health products for health professionals.
