English version of Yeni Şafak Newspaper
Since its first headline, “Turkey has a bright future”, Yeni Şafak has leaded big changes in news reporting and journalism in Turkey.
Turkey has passed through much economic and political turmoil for the last 20 years. Particularly during February 28th, 1997 Yeni Şafak has never come to heels in front of any suppression, but has only stayed on the same line with public, standing for their demands. On the most difficult days when Turkey’s democracy and human rights were besieged; Yeni Şafak presented a very brave stance, which the Turkish media had never witnessed, by claiming many of the journalists, who were banned from many newspapers.
Having a very highly intellectual and educated circle of readers, Yeni Şafak reader seldom prefers another newspaper. The reader circle mainly is of company owners, academics, tradesman and people who are into the state issues. A very interesting statistic about Yeni Şafak is that about 20 percent of its readers are highly educated ladies and it is a very critical offtake for advertisers, placing value on economy and sectorial news.
